Elite Cleaners, one block south of East Lake Street at 3101 Minnehaha Ave. S., has partnered with the City of Minneapolis to make sure job seekers make a good first impression.

In light of rising unemployment, Don Chapman, owner of Elite Cleaners and Launderers, has donated a thousand dry cleaning coupons — worth more than $16,000 — to help individuals seeking employment prepare for job interviews. The coupons will be distributed by counselors at South Minneapolis centers through the city’s Minneapolis Employment and Training Program.

According to the city, there was a 31 percent increase in the number of laid-off clients in the past, and recent statewide statistics show that for every job available there are five people seeking work.
