There were no surprises in the general election in the Democratic stronghold we call Bridgeland, but there is a new face — Bobby Joe Champion, in Downtown East — amongst the Democrats and incumbents heading into office.

One trend is undeniable: Bridgeland likes Obama. The President-elect pulled less than 70 percent in only one local precinct (69.57 percent in one U of M’s East Bank precinct), while his Seward numbers were above 90 percent.

We voted nearly as much for Al Franken, who awaits, with the rest of us, the results of a recount in his race for U.S. Senate against Norm Coleman.

Democratic incumbents Keith Ellison (U.S Representative, District 5), Jim Davnie (State Representative District 62A) and Phyllis Kahn (State Representative District 59B) were all returned to office, while Champion (State Representative District 58B) takes over the seat of Willie Dominguez, whom Champion beat out in the primary for the Democratic nomination.

Bridgelanders joined the rest of Minneapolis in overwhelmingly approving a $60 million-a-year tax levy to fund Minneapolis Public Schools, as well as to restructure School Board representation.

Below are the results, both for vote-count and percentage (in parentheses), for each Bridgeland precinct for President, U.S. Senate, U.S. Representative and State Representative. Winners are in bold.
