NorthEast Night/Red Stag Block Party — Saturday, June 9
To celebrate the eventual opening of the Red Stag Supper Club, the NorthEast Minneapolis Business Association (NEBA) will host on June 9 the inaugural NorthEast Night, a free, public block party featuring live music, entertainment, free tastings and samples, and extended shopping hours.
Musical guests include Low, Chooglin, Black Blondie, MC/VL, Farmer John and the Plowboys and Prudence Johnson, with emcees Lit 6 Project and Electric Arc Radio also on hand. The free event will go on rain or shine, 5:30–10 p.m., at 509 First Ave. NE. For more information, visit www.redstagsupperclub.com.
Other area establishments will host activities, as well, from 5–7 p.m., including live Irish music outside Keegan’s Irish Pub, a cupcake walk at Let’s Cook, free jewelry inspection and cleaning at T Lee Fine Design Jewelry, cheese and popcorn samples at Surdyk’s, a glasses expo at Look and See Eye Care, and a hula hoop contest, on the block party stage, sponsored by Spot Spa Boutique.
Block party attendees will receive free game cards ree game cards which may be stamped by NEBA merchants and, once completed, entered into a drawing for a $500 NorthEast shopping spree.
The block party kicks off not only Red Stag, but a series of monthly NorthEast Nights in the NEBA area. Information will be posted at NEBA retail locations and at www.northeastminneapolis.com.
